Introduction to Project Management

In this 3-day, hands on training course, students will work in project management teams to perform the key steps in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling a case study project. This course is fully aligned with performing the processes contained in the PMBOK® Guide which will benefit those students who eventually would like to become CAPM or PMP certified.
Students will learn to:
- Analyze a statement of work
- Identify and analyze stakeholder concerns
- Set project objectives and create a project charter
- Clarify roles and responsibilities using a project organizational chart, responsibility assignment matrix and roles description sheet.
- Analyze project requirements using a traceability matrix
- Define the scope of the project using a scope statement and work breakdown structure
- Plan the project with the elements contained in a typical project management plan
- Identify the phases of the project by defining a project lifecycle
- Build a project schedule using an activity list, network diagram, and Gantt chart
- Analyze a project schedule to determine the critical path, float for each activity, and project duration
- Plan the project quality processes by creating a project quality plan
- Execute the project with techniques for managing team development, conducting effective meetings, and performing quality assurance.
- Monitor and Control the project by comparing actual results to the plan
- Identify and manage project risks using a Risk Impact Matrix and Project Risk Register
This course is taught at your Huntsville facility in 21 hours of class time, which contributes to PMI’s certification exams’ requirement of a minimum of 35 contact hours of project management education. The course costs $595 or $395 for members of PMI and PMI-NAC. (Minimum class size is 10 students.)
