PMI Exam Preparation Opportunities
The North Alabama Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI-NAC) offers three courses to the community to expand the profession of Project Management.
The first course introduces students to what project management is about, skills that project managers should possess and activities that project managers perform, i.e., a course to teach one how to be a project manager (PM).
The second course teaches students the “PMBOK® way”. The Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) is completely covered and thoroughly explained, which is needed to pass any certification exam from PMI.
The third course is a crash course that is designed to prepare individuals for the PMP® certification exam during their latter days of studying by focusing on the certification exam itself with example questions, choosing the right answers, avoiding the wrong answers, and test taking techniques. So the three courses are called:
1. Introduction to Project Management
2. Understanding the PMBOK® Guide
In the past PMI-NAC has taught a single course to prepare individuals to take the PMP® Certification Exam. This course is similar but longer than the Understanding the PMBOK Guide course and covers only part of what is in the PMP® Exam Crash Course. Thus PMI-NAC decided to offer the two courses instead. But some businesses may still be interested in such a course with the understanding of the differences. If so, PMI-NAC will conduct such a course for them.
